The magical Isle of Jura is famous for deer, whisky, wilderness and warm hospitality, and the Jura Hotel is the perfect basecamp from which to explore the island. From the peaceful village of Craighouse, the Jura Hotel has breathtaking views across the water and is metres from the world-famous Jura Distillery.

The sense of peace and freedom found on Jura are second to none. This, along with the comfort and homeliness of the hotel, the friendliness of our team and the warmth of the local community, draws many of our guests back to the island year after year.

Jura is the place to get away from it all.

Our family-run hotel has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, free wifi for hotel residents, lounges, a reasonably priced restaurant and the island's only pub.

The hotel has seventeen tastefully decorated bedrooms, most with beautiful sea views and all with modern, mainly ensuite, facilities.

Uncover the Mystery of Getting Here

During the summer get here on the Jura Passenger Ferry, explore the island by bike (for hire here on Jura) or book a bus or boat tour.

At other times of year, or if you're bringing a car, travel by ferry to Islay and then five minutes over the Sound on the Jura Ferry.

If you love the outdoors there is plenty for you to do on Jura. Many walkers visit the island to climb the Paps, lots of visitors come to see the wildlife, many are making the pilgrimage to the home of their favourite whisky, or the hideaway of their favourite author, some come to fish the lochs and rivers and many just to relax and enjoy the peace and pace of island life.

There is only one shop on the island - and one pub - but a whole, surprisingly large island to explore and enjoy for a three-day break or a week-long holiday.

So much to do...

so little to HAVE to do

Expertly prepared meals made with fresh ingredients are served daily in our our restaurant, pub and

lounge bar.

"Had two wonderful meals here. Using local ingredients (lobster, scallops, venison, crab, whisky) in skilled, imaginative ways. Ate way too much."

A happy customer, Oct 2018
